When your experiment is in the acquisition queue, the Enable Lab will upload an overview image of the coverslip/slide with the regions that will be used for image acquisition. Once the image is uploaded, you’ll receive a notification to label the regions with your Sample IDs.

These Sample IDs are helpful in two ways:

How to label regions with Sample IDs

To add new sample labels manually, click on the + icon next to No sample specified for the region you wish to label. You will see a dialogue box titled New Sample Config. Please add the appropriate sample label that matches the clinical metadata. If the sample label corresponds to multiple image regions, you can indicate those using the Regions field (e.g. Regions 1 and 2). When you are finished adding the sample label and tagging its associated regions on the coverslip image select Create.

To use BULK ADD SAMPLES, prepare a text file with each of the sample labels in the same order as the acquisition IDs, with each label on a new line. You can then and copy and paste the labels into the dialogue box.

<aside> 💡 If you wish to use the bulk sample labeler on an experiment that has multiple regions corresponding to a single sample, you will first need to group the regions into un-labeled samples. This can be done by clicking the + icon next to one of the regions belonging to a sample, and then indicating all of the Regions that belong to that sample using the Regions field. You can then click Create without specifying a sample label. You will then be able to paste in your labels, and they will be associated with each sample. The order of samples is determined by the order of the first region associated with each sample.

Once you are done giving sample label names to all acquired regions, click Save. Please note that if there are multiple experiments in the study, you will need to complete this for each coverslip/slide overview image.

Once you have labeled samples, you can associate them with clinical/experimental information by clicking Upload Sample Traits on the Study Details page.
